I am a wife and mother of two lil men, 8 and 6 years old. I am a social worker by profession, but am currently on a mental hiatus. Much needed because now I'm enjoying time again with my lil men. This started as a running joke with a friend about all the FREE things I do and I how I needed to write a book. Well, it will begin here as a blog.
I was was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. I love the art, culture, food, and most importantly; the close access to Canada! I love my hometown. I’ve lived in Philadelphia for 8 years and have met some awesome people. It truly is the City of Brotherly Love.
Relocating to Philly, I was a Domestic Engineer, my husband worked, and my eldest son was 8 months. Our budget was tight. I mean superglue bonded tight. I had a budget of $20 a week. Our apartment was small, had no air condition, and I had no private transportation. To pass time, We would take our daily walks down 34th street to Starbucks. It grew to be costly so one day we stopped in the local library. Philadelphia Free Library. This became our new space. I would fill a ziplock bag full of Cheerios, a juice cup, and a few pampers. The librarian probably noticed our daily routine and one day offered us 2 free passes to the Please Touch Museum.
The next day we set out for the Museum. It was a 15 minute Septa bus ride from my apartment. I loved the place! EVERYTHING in the Museum he could touch! Added bonus...awesome central air! Needless to say, we were there everyday with complimentary passes from the library. This was the beginning of my journey to “What’s Free Philly?!” This blog will layout all the FREE activities we've experienced; either at low cost or FREE! Starting with Verizon Fios internet which I’m using now to post this blog. Monthly cost $10! See if you qualify for low cost internet either through Comcast or Verizon Fios. https://www.internetessentials.com/links or https://www.verizon.com/support/residential/account/manage-account/lifeline-discount. Stay Tuned....
